Call for digital music artists

Project Overview:

An Electronica/Trip-Hop/D&B/Downtempo/Glitch/Dubstep offering fusing Highland Bagpipes from Pro-Tool Session files from Uncivilized by Tartanic (www.tartanic.net).

Tartanic is producing this album in the self-imposed mission of including the unlikely instrument of the Great Highland Bagpipe into accessible modern dance music to be released on a compilation CD marketed at Tartanic performances, the band’s website and through Itunes digital distribution.

Tartanic is offering to compensate the DJ/Laptop God/Digital Music Artist up to $100.00/track for providing a new tune using the provided authorized Pro-Tools Session files in order to create an entirely new dance track.  The entire melody recorded is specifically not to be recognizably preserved.  The Digital Music Artist is invited to edit the sounds provided as they see fit to create something new with their personal stamp and style.

Benefits to Artist:

  1. To have a professionally published recording with the Artist’s name/handle attached to the creative work.
  2. Distribution on physical CD to be approximately 5000 for 2009/2010 season.
  3. Digital Distribution through CD Baby, Itunes and 40 other online music distributors listed in the Song Title, e.g., “‘Acid Drop Tango’ by Tartanic Feauturing YOUR NAME HERE,” or “’Dance of the Ice Weasles’ by Tartanic (YOUR NAME HERE Mix)"
  4. Personal Website reference and/or contact information on CD liner notes.
  5. Freedom to sample Tartanic, an ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) artist with full permission and without paying for royalties or rights; but rather receive an honorarium for your participation and publication.
  6. Having Artist’s music heard from a ready-made fan-base from seven years of national touring to a demographic that is not normally searching for new electronic music.

Benefits to Tartanic:

  1. To be able to offer music that propels bagpipes out of the rather stodgy realm they inhabit, and bringing a cutting-edge contemporary musical fusion to the public.
  2. A fast-tracked experimental compilation added to the catalog of music already available
  3. To initiate a collaborative relationship between current Digital Music Artists and Tartanic.
  4. Creating a record with many diverse styles and sounds that may not be possible when working with a single music producer.

Benefits to the Public:

  1. New musical fusion offering to a ready-made audience of fans Tartanic has cultivated over the past seven years.
  2. An ear-opening option to all fans of Celtic music, Irish Punk, and Bagpipe fans who may have never been exposed to today’s sonic possibilities.
